AFF Tip of the Week

Week of October 30, 2006 - When learning how to fly fish a helpful tip can be to close your eyes. A good angler casts by feeling the line and knowing when to pull it back, when to bring it forward, and when to let go. My father taught me to close my eyes, relax, feel the weight of line, and let the physics do the hard work. A clean cast is not forced and it is always conducted by a composed, patient angler. Of course this practice technique only works in large spaces with no surrounding trees or people to ensure the activity is safe.
