AFF Tip of the Week

Week of June 25, 2006 - Always keep a fishing journal. Documenting your days as a fisherman is imperative. Remember to write down the date, time of day, weather conditions, and a description of what you caught and how you caught it. Do not forget to record who you were with or perhaps even a funny story. Try to include a picture or a sketch if you can. This will help you recall your fishing memories with your family and friends. A journal can stay in a family forever, and is a very fun book to look through to see the lifetime chronicles of an angler.

Here is an example of what your journal might look like:

Date: June 12, 2006

Time: Mid day (not a very good time to fish, but it was the only time we could go)

Place: A small pond in West Hartford, CT.

Weather: Partly cloudy and sunny temp. around 80

Description: I went fishing with my younger brother Mac who was dying to go. We met up with a friend. Mac used his new 5 wt. Echo rod and casted it very well. He hooked one small mouth bass and I hooked two. All of our fish were around 10 inches. Our friend hooked up right away with a plastic worm on a spin rod. My brother and I were just using bass poppers. I wish they wouldn't cut back the brush so much around the pond, it's bad for the fishing. Other than that we had a great time as always.
